Welcome to January! And to my first TBR of the year, which is super exciting.
January is one of my favourite months and also probably one of the best reading months for me every year. I always just feel so motivated and rejuvenated.
Although no TBR can ever bind me, I wanted to share some books that are on my mind as possible reads for this month. Noting that the Summer TBR still applies so those books are also potentials.
currently reading:
A Dance with Dragons (part one), George R.R Martin
This is kind of such a random pick for me since fantasy is usually reserved for winter and I didnβt think I would be reading this for a long time (seriously, where is the rush) but I started House of the Dragon and as a result got the urge to go back to Game of Thrones.
Iβm having a really fun time with this so far - it follows a lot of my favourite POV characters. HOWEVER, I will say I didnβt realise until I started reading I only own part one and there is a whole second part. I thought after this book I was up to date with the series!! π€¦ββοΈ
Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland, Patrick Radden Keefe
Iβve been waiting and waiting for this to come off hold at the library but I got impatient and decided to give the audiobook a shot and I really like the narrator so I may stick with it! Iβm not too far into this yet but so far Iβm really enjoying how the narrator weaves a fiction style into this non-fiction and the way heβs able to capture the atmosphere in Northern Ireland while describing The Troubles and some of the key events and players.
potential tbr:
Mister Impossible, Maggie Stiefvater
I started this series last year, albeit a little tentatively because I loved The Raven Cycle and wasnβt sure if this would hold up, but I had a lot of fun with it. It was really nice to be back in this world and with these characters so Iβm looking forward to continuing on with this series.
Jane Austen and Crime, Susannah Fullerton
A non-fiction book I own that I feel like has been sitting on my shelves staring at me from across the room for months now. I kept putting this off until I read more Austen but Iβve read all her books now (minus one) so I feel like this is the perfect time to dive into more theory on her works. Also, hitting the ground running with my owner tbr reading challenge feels like a good idea.
Cassandra in Reverse, Holly Smale
This is my book clubβs pick for this month, so itβs a must read! I intend to pick up the audiobook for this one. I donβt know much about it except that it involves time travel, which is a trope I always feel hit or miss on, so this should be interesting for me.
That is my short but sweet TBR! Iβm keeping it pretty simple this month.. plus weβre already over halfway through! What is everyone else reading this month?
